Groups: Harmonizing the market-based prices within a pharmacy network

94% of pharmacies belong to a group (Court of Auditors, May 2025). However, when it comes to non-reimbursable medications, over-the-counter products, and dietary supplements, each pharmacy owner is free to set their own prices, and the price of the same product can vary from one pharmacy within the same chain to another. Patients, however, see only one brand: this inconsistency damages the brand’s price image, leaves profit on the table, and muddies joint promotional efforts.

This white paper proposes a three-tiered pricing policy: a common suggested retail price for the most frequently compared products, a price range for the core product line, and complete freedom for personalized recommendations. All of this is in compliance with the law (no minimum prices imposed, independence of the retailer, and a 30-day reference price). Audited figures from 2023 to 2026 (Court of Auditors, IGF-IGAS, NèreS, and OpenHealth Company).
