Pricefx, Competera, and Revionics are not aimed at the same buyer: a modular, multi-sector suite; advanced competitive intelligence; and pricing at a very large scale. Therefore, there is no single alternative, but rather an alternative tailored to the retailer’s scale and actual needs.

For a French retailer, three criteria carry more weight than the list of features: the size of the network, the scope of services actually expected (market monitoring, comprehensive optimization, promotions, and markdowns), and business support.

None of these three publishers publishes a price list; prices are available upon request.

Do you have a shortlist that includes Pricefx, Competera, or Revionics, and are you looking to find out what other options are available, particularly for a French retailer?

This article compares these three publishers based on publicly available information (ranking, cited scale, pricing, reviews) and provides a framework for making a choice, with or without BOOPER as an incentive.

Revionics, Competera, and Pricefx Logos Side by Side: A Comparison of Alternatives for a Retailer

Short answer: three tools, three buyer profiles

Pricefx, Competera, and Revionics are international software providers that cater to different needs. A suitable alternative for one company isn’t necessarily suitable for another. The best approach is to start with your specific needs (competitive intelligence, comprehensive optimization, promotions, and markdowns) and the scale of your network, rather than looking for a direct equivalent.

Pricefx

An AI-first pricing intelligence platform designed for multi-sector enterprise groups in both B2B and B2C, featuring a modular architecture. No public pricing table: according to Canidium, the implementation partner, the cost varies significantly depending on the scope of the project. Named a Leader inthe IDC MarketScape for B2B Revenue and Profit Optimization Platforms 2025–2026, a B2B (not retail) ranking. G2rating: 4.4/5 based on 134 reviews (accessed September 21, 2026).

Compete

Competitive intelligence combined with an AI-powered pricing platform, featuring 930 sub-models, according to the vendor. Targets multi-market enterprise retailers; pricing is based on a quote. Recognized as a Major Player inthe IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Retail Price Optimization Solutions 2025, according to the vendor. G2rating: 4.9/5, but based on only 14 reviews—too small a sample size to draw a solid conclusion.

Revionics (Aptos)

Pricing science, promotions, and markdowns, with a generative AI component. Acquired by Aptos in 2020, its clients include major (Tier 1) retailers in the food, discount, pharmacy, convenience, home improvement, and specialty retail sectors, according tothe acquisition announcement. Pricing is based on a quote. A G2 profile exists, but we were unable to verify the rating with certainty.

Omnia Retail

A Dutch platform for automated repricing and dynamic pricing, focused on e-commerce and marketplaces (Amazon, eBay, Google Shopping), featuring a rules engine (“Pricing Strategy Tree”) and an agent-based AI that continuously monitors competitor activity, according to Omnia Retail. Supports anywhere from 500 SKUs to several million. Pricing available upon request.

What criteria should a French retailer use when choosing an alternative?

The scale of the network. A platform designed for very large groups does not yield initial results as quickly as a tool designed for a regional network. An oversized solution is just as costly as one that is too limited.

The actual scope. A competitive intelligence tool does not perform the same function as an AI optimization suite or a module integrated into a broader information system. Confusing the two is like buying a probe when you wanted a decision engine—or vice versa.

Business Support. For a new retail brand, the software provider’s ability to support the pricing and purchasing teams is just as important as the engine itself. Detailed criteria can be found in our guide to essential pricing software features.

Price and budget. None of the three publish their rates: ask for a detailed quote based on the same scope of work, and be wary of unconfirmed estimates from third parties.

BOOPER or Pricefx, BOOPER or Competera: How to Interpret the Comparison

BOOPER is a French provider of retail pricing software that combines AI and business rules within a modular platform (MPS), with 4,000 managed retail locations and 30 B2C and B2B clients. It targets retailers and retail chains seeking a phased, guided rollout, whereas major international software suites primarily target very large corporations.

When comparing Pricefx, the key issues are scope and scale: a multi-sector enterprise suite versus a retail-focused platform. When comparing Competera, the key issue is the entry point: sophisticated competitive intelligence first, or a platform that integrates market monitoring, elasticities, simulation, and decision-making. In both cases, the most reliable approach is to test the solutions using the same dataset.

Why is BOOPER the right solution for you?

You manage a network of stores and are looking for a platform that integrates data, AI, and pricing decisions. Here's what sets BOOPER apart.

1

A French publisher focused on retail

A retail-specific pricing platform that combines AI and business rules. 30 B2C and B2B clients in 4 countries (France, Poland, Vietnam, Thailand).

2

A comprehensive and modular platform

Pricing, competitive pricing analysis, forecasting and price elasticities, markdowns, promotions, and monitoring—all in a single tool—with simulations of the impact on sales and inventory.

3

AI Under Business Control

Clear recommendations, customizable rules, approval workflows, and an audit log: your teams have the final say.

4

A launch without major IT projects

The Data Loader imports your existing files (point-of-sale exports, price lists, catalogs), even when the data is still incomplete.

5

Tested on a large scale

4,000 managed retail locations and €44 billion in managed revenue. A national food retailer uses it in more than 1,700 stores.

6

Professional Guidance

Beyond software, pricing studies, consulting, and training to help your teams adopt best practices.

Ideal for retailers and retail chains—both B2C and B2B—that want to manage prices, margins, and product assortments with their teams rather than be at the mercy of a tool.

And what about at the European level?

Pricefx, Competera, and Revionics are international players. In Europe, the solutions most similar to BOOPER are detailed in our dedicated comparisons: PricingHub, Yieldigo, Optimix XPA, and Mercio. The complete overview (ten vendors) is included in the 2026 guide to BOOPER alternatives.

FAQ

It depends on your scale and scope. Pricefx targets multi-sector enterprise groups. For a retailer, alternatives can be found among specialized retail software providers: BOOPER, Optimix, PricingHub, or Mercio for a French solution, and Yieldigo or Revionics for broader international coverage. The complete overview is available in the guide to alternatives to BOOPER.

Competera is primarily chosen for its advanced competitive intelligence capabilities. If your main need is market intelligence, Minderest is more specialized. If you want to combine market intelligence, price elasticities, and pricing decisions, Yieldigo, PricingHub, Optimix, or BOOPER cover a broader range of capabilities. The right choice depends on how much of your needs involve market intelligence.

Revionics is designed for very large retailers. For a smaller French retailer, a platform that can be deployed more quickly and includes business support is often a better fit. BOOPER, Optimix, PricingHub, and Mercio are the French solutions that most closely match this profile.

Pricefx is a modular suite for multi-sector enterprise groups, while BOOPER is a retail-focused platform that combines AI and business rules. The choice depends on your industry, the scale of your network, and the level of support you expect. Ask each vendor for a quote and a demonstration using the same data set.

Competera draws on competitive intelligence—with 930 claimed sub-models—and extends it to AI-driven pricing. BOOPER links market monitoring (product matching, price tracking) to elasticities, simulations, and pricing decisions within a single platform for retail. Both address similar needs but from different entry points.

Compare these five factors: scale of deployment, functional scope, business support, time to first results, and pricing transparency. The detailed comparisons of PricingHub, Yieldigo, Optimix XPA, and Mercio use this framework.

Omnia Retail focuses on automated repricing for e-commerce and marketplaces (Amazon, eBay, Google Shopping), using a rules engine and AI that continuously monitors competitor price movements. Like Prisync or Dealavo, its core focus is online stores, not physical retail chains: no price elasticity calculated based on in-store sales, no simulation of margin/inventory impact before a price change, and no management by catchment area. For a brick-and-mortar or omnichannel retailer, BOOPER covers a broader scope than automated repricing alone.

Simulating a promotion: incremental, cannibalization, and margin arbitrage

The volume sold during a promotion does not indicate whether it created value: part of it comes from similar products (cannibalization), and another part from purchases that were simply brought forward.

Each promotional scenario must be costed out prior to launch using the same metrics: base sales, actual incremental sales, cannibalization, carryover, halo effect, net margin for the category, and cost per unit actually gained.

Margin-volume arbitrage can then be explained: a stated objective, visible forecasting factors, constraints adhered to, and a documented validation process.

Pricing, promotions, markdowns: Bringing Them Together in a Single Retail Tool

Key takeaway: Pricing, promotions, and markdowns are three factors that constantly influence one another, but are still managed using separate tools at most retailers.

This fragmentation creates inconsistencies that are invisible in the short term (a muddled pricing image, margins eroded by promotions that aren’t properly coordinated with markdowns) but costly in the long term. Gartner has, in fact, formalized this convergence as a distinct market category: unified optimization of pricing, promotions, and markdowns.
